What happened to our prayer list?

Our Prayers for Special Help website reaches over 20,000 people every month from all around the world, and many of our visitors enlisted the aid of our Prayer List. Recently, and with much regret, we found it necessary to discontinue the prayer list. While we operate entirely out of pocket, we do have a small staff of volunteers who now have found it necessary to find paying work in these difficult economic times. So unfortunately there is no one who can now manage all the dozens of prayer requests that come in every week.

We also had trouble raising money to keep the website going, which is only $300 a year, but still, someone must pay it. Had we been able to receive more donations things might have been a bit different.

We will be able to barely make the renewal payment when it falls due next month. Thank God we can still get by and keep our prayers available to anyone - and everyone - around the world, although the prayer list will probably not be returning anytime soon.

Any donations will greatly help us keep running smoothly. Thanks and God Bless!

Fertility prayer

I started a page for Fertility Prayers because there seems to be a need. I always hear about unexpected pregnancies, but rarely, about the couples who desperately wish to conceive, but can't for some reason. A prayer is a request for creation of some kind: health, happiness, wealth, love, etc. So why not for life as well? "Ask, and ye shall receive!"

Job and work prayers

I can't believe how long it has been since my last post! Or my last newsletter to our website subscribers - almost embarrassing! But considering the events of the past few months, me getting a persistent flu, our office getting flooded back in April, etc., (and thanks to the Lord for helping us get through those times), things are going perfectly fine now. A lot of people have been asking about prayers for finding work, so I added a page of Prayers for Employment recently, and now I'm working on Business Prayers. So many people want to start their own businesses nowadays. Thank God I have been able to do that and successfully too. So I'll be sharing some of my business prayers with our website visitors. Look for the page coming soon! Till then, I'll keep you all in my prayers. God Bless!

Healing prayers need help!

Oh no! My section on Healing Prayers, that was the biggest section and had the most prayers in it, got wiped out by the server and I just found out it can't be restored. Well, it can be restored, but not by the server, by me. (I thought the website had looked a little thin lately ...)

This is a major loss of hours and hours of hard work, so I'll need to really pray on this one. And then I better get back to work on it, because it had so many great healing prayers, for headaches and bleeding and burns and other conditions. The Healing Prayers section needs healing, ha ha. Well I will meditate on that, forgive my server, and get back to work restoring it. Talk to ya later!

Prayer Is A Mirror

I'm discovering that prayer is intensely powerful not just because it affirms our connection to the divine, but because it also connects us more deeply within ourselves. Among other things, a prayer is an expression of desire, a wish or a request for something we would like to have happen, or to change. But sometimes when we voice that request we find a different voice calling out beneath the emotions.

For example, say I pray for help finding a new job. As I focus on this prayer and on expressing my wish, I may find myself growing angry, frustrated and tense, not because I am really asking for a job, but because I am realizing the disappointment that mazybe I've never liked my jobs, maybe I've missed out on good opportunities, maybe I feel like I'll never make enough money. Those are issues that we may not want to face head-on, but the illuminating power of prayer will show them to us, and so help us begin to heal.

And that's the true healing power and gift of prayer. Our connection to the Almighty is always there. But our connections to our deeper selves are tenuous, fleeting and sometimes censored by what we think we ":should" do or be. The power of prayer brings us right home to a place where we can face and resolve our inner conflicts and desires. It is the most illuminating mirror there is.

Prayer Power

Attention, all praying people! Someone has said that if Christians really understood the full extent of the incredible power of prayer, we could move mountains. During World War II an advisor to Prime Minister Churchill in England got a group of people together who, at a predetermined time of day, dropped everything they were doing to pray for peace in England and the safety of her people.

Now there's a similar group here in the USA who want to do the same - hallelujah, I say! Here is the drill:

Every evening at 9 PM EST, which is 8 PM Central, 7 PM Mountain and 6 PM Pacific, stop what you are doing and spend just one minute praying for peace in the world, safety to our country, our troops, our citizens, everyone. The effects can be monumental. I for one will start doing it tonight, hope you'll join along. And, please pass this on! We all know how WWII turned out - let us pray for a return to peace and safety to our nation and the world, once again.

Blessings,
